All the PDO indicators achieved or surpassed their end target, except for the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Program (USOAP) goals which needs to be assessed over the upcoming month. Otherwise, Faleolo International Airport has maintained all regulatory compliance requirements and certifications are current; air traffic management has been modernized; and the regional safety and security levy are being implemented. The project is closing on June 30, 2019 whereas some activities (runway pavement, training of Civil Aviation Department -CAD- and Samoa Airport Authority -SAA- staff, spare parts for airfield lighting, etc.) need additional time to be completed. Therefore, the Government requested an extension of the closing date of nine months, up to March 31, 2020. In parallel, because of costs overruns for two main activities (apron and runway pavement 5/4/2019 Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Samoa Aviation Investment Project (P143408) contract and Airfield Ground Lighting, Navigation Aids, power supply and Air Traffic Control -ATC- equipment contract), the Government also requested an additional financing of US$2.2 million equivalent. Both issues are being considered by the World Bank’s Board of Directors until May 9, 2019.
