Most of the activities are in track, and disbursements amount to USD6.5 Million (73.1% of the total). Achievements over the past 6 months include: (a) the Institutional and Policy Program at the National Level Component has advanced through an intensive process of Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Report No: ISR12939 developing guidelines and instruments to improve the management of protected areas (PAs)at different level, implementation of innovative approaches to conservation and integrated (PA) management; (b) under the Ecological Corridors Program Component, the first phase to support the operation of the Regional Conservation System (RCS) has been completed. Progress has also been made with the formulation of plans for strengthening participative management both at the RCS and PA levels, through the provision of specialized technical assistance. In addition, the Project has started the implementation of pilots for financial sustainability involving the private sector around four protected areas; and (c) under Public Disclosure Copy Component 3 (Financial sustainability of PA in selected ecological corridors), the endowment fund of PRONANP has increased by EUR5 million through contribution from KfW, reaching a total of USD12.6 million.
