The Project Preparation and Management Unit (PPMU) has been adequately staffed and is operational, most of the key consultancies are in place, and the irrigation rehabilitation works are at various stages of implementation. Activities under institutional, agriculture and ground water components made progresses, their disbursement continue to be slow. Target disbursement of 50% which was set in March 2014 mission did not materialize, mainly due to bifurcation-related Page 1 of 5 The World Bank Report No: ISR16902 activities took place in the past 6 months. The state of Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated into two successor states: Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State. Therefore, the Andhra Pradesh Water Sector Improvement Project will also be bifurcated. The mission discussed the details of project bifurcation issues with the Governments and initiated drafting of amendments to the Legal Document as well as Project Agreements.
