The Grant Agreement was signed on December 19, 2012 and became effective on December 26, 2012. The project is under-implementation and moving as scheduled. The project implementation is moving as scheduled and has recovered the delays which occurred last few months Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Report No: ISR15110 due to the delay in the entry of materials into Gaza due to the Israeli restrictions. The project achieved project targets and contributed in improving the water supply and sanitation services by developing water and sewage systems facilities, specifically: Public Disclosure Copy 1. The project helped PWA and the utility maintaining and securing chlorine solution (sodium hydrochloride 10% active chlorine) which helped sustaining the disinfection efficiency of the water supply in Gaza Strip at acceptable standard level of 99.0%. 2. Decreasing the percentage of the none revenue water (NRW) from 39% to 34% since effectiveness by doing repairs for deteriorated pipes and installing of 12km of new pipes, managing comprehensive replacement and repair of (8750) customers water meters and water wells meters. 3. 44000 People in the project area were benefited from improved wastewater facilities. 4. Elector-mechanical rehabilitation and upgrading programs and services continue to be applied by the operator for all water wells in the targeted areas, which led to significant reduction (43%) in the specific power consumption related to the water produced from water wells .
