Most of the key activities scheduled for implementation in the last six months have been partially implemented due to inability to access advance disbursements in the designated project account for new projects in the Tanzania portfolio. The main focus on project activities under Subcomponent 2.1 during this period included species and habitat conservation and particularly Kihansi Spray Toad (KST) husbandry in the captive breeding facilities at the University of Dar es Salaam Page 1 of 3 The World Bank Report No: ISR14415 and at Kihansi; and monitoring of the ecological indicators in the Kihansi Gorge. In order to ensure continued reintroduction and monitoring of the Kihansi Spray Toads, the a brief implementation support was carried out from June 16 - 23, 2014 to review the current status of the Kihansi Spray Toad (KST) populations both in captivity and in the wild and plan for the third reintroduction of the KST in its natural habitat in the Kihansi Gorge. The mission noted that although the project could access funds through reimbursement and direct payment methods, the minimum application value of US$100,000 set out in the Disbursement Letter was an impediment.
