The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) capacity building continued to be carried out under various components aiming to strengthen technical knowledge in sector planning and management. Institutional oversight to better govern the hydropower and mining sectors is continuing to improve. All critical technical assistance packages are under implementation – many have been completed and several are near completion - to develop tools and management systems to enhance MEM oversight capacity. Despite such progress, there have been emerging issues facing the sectors which require further technical and financial support such as dam safety, power export strategy, power development planning, financial improvement, environmental and social sustainability of hydropower, effective execution and operationalization of policies, regulation, standards and tools etc. produced under the project. 11/12/2018 Page 1 of 9 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report TA for Capacity Development in Hydropower and Mining Sector (P109736) Risks Systematic Operations Risk-rating Tool Risk Category Rating at Approval Previous Rating Current Rating Political and Governance -- Substantial Substantial Macroeconomic -- Moderate Moderate Sector Strategies and Policies -- Substantial Substantial Technical Design of Project or Program -- Moderate Moderate Institutional Capacity for Implementation and Sustainability -- Substantial Substantial Fiduciary -- Moderate Moderate Environment and Social -- Moderate Moderate Stakeholders -- Substantial Substantial Other -- -- -- Overall -- Substantial Substantial Results PDO Indicators by Objectives / Outcomes To increase human capacity in the hydropower and mining sectors IN00598046 ►Percentage of trained GOL staff report medium to intensive use of knowledge and lessons learned from capacity building measures.
