A project management unit (PMU) has been established and is fully staffed with a project coordinator, procurement specialist, safeguards specialist, financial management specialist, supervision engineer and communications expert. A Project Director has been appointed by the GoSL to oversee and guide the implementation of the project. The PMU reports to a steering committee. Page 1 of 4 The World Bank Report No: ISR15230 While there is some delays major procurement activities are in process: Component 1: Rehabilitation of the primary network, loss reduction and improvement of NPA's Operational and commercial performance. Bid documents for substations and rehabilitation of the network have been prepared and submitted to the Bank for review. The preparation of bid documents for pre-payment meters is at an advanced stage and are Public Disclosure Copy expected to be submitted to the Bank for review by the end of June. Terms of reference has been prepared for the recruitment of a social audit firm to review and assess the social impacts along a 8 km transmission. This work is expected to commence in August 2014. Component 2: Rural electrification: Field assessment have been undertaken to to further refine the scope and identify target villages for solar PV systems for refrigeration of medicines. Health clinics in 450 villages have been identified as the priority target. Bid documents for the supply and install of PV systems have been prepared and submitted to the Bank for review. Component 3: Project implementation management: The PMU is fully staffed and operational.
