The GoE subsequently requested a project restructuring to reflect the change in priorities and the decision to cancel a total of $90m of the original $150m in project funds (formally requested on Sep 27, 2018 and Feb 7, 2019). The GoE provided the Bank with the updated list of priority activities on Feb 7, 2019, and a project restructuring was approved by the RVP on April 23, 2019 and currently awaits countersignature by the Minister of Finance. The GoE’s decision to cancel a significant portion of the project funds effectively removes the activities that would not have been completed by the project closing date of Sep 7, 2020. Nonetheless, the timeline for completing the remaining activities remains very tight and leaves little room for delays. That said, the restructured PDO and Results Framework are considered achievable within the remaining implementation period if the client adheres to the timeline agreed to during the April mission. The Project Coordination Unit (PCU) is currently working with the co-executing agencies to make the necessary preparations for each activity to ensure completion within the project timeline.
