The province has adopted the District Development Fund (DDF) guidelines for public investment planning and budgeting and staff in all ten districts are in the process of developing their capacities to manage the complete project cycle from demand-driven planning, to procurement, and implementation. Physical works of sub-projects under the third cycle of DDF (2012-2013) are currently underway for public investments Page 1 of 8 The World Bank Report No: ISR13650 in health, education, water supply, and rural roads, which will contribute to the improvement of rural livelihoods. DDF has already reached approximately 29,000 beneficiaries during its first two cycles. Strengthening provincial capacities for improved service delivery is also progressing with all five sub-projects under the Provincial Development Fund (PDF) completed. The irrigation and livelihood development aspects are progressing as planned. Rehabilitation works for pump irrigation schemes in 29 villages and the installation of electric pumps in 4 villages have been completed with training for water users underway. Agriculture-based Livelihood Grants (ALG) have benefited over 1,000 farmer households Public Disclosure Copy who are now carrying out livelihood activities in 38 target villages.
