During the most recent supervision visit, the World Bank’s task team assessed the progress towards the achievement of the Project Development Objectives (PDO), as well as the progress with the implementation of each project component. Overall, there are some implementation shortcomings to be addressed in the very short-term to enable the completion of all relevant activities before the project closing date. It is important to note that, at present, it is not possible to measure the progress towards the achievement of the objective on learning outcomes of students of general secondary education, given the delays with the implementation of activities on students assessment. 1/15/2019 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Improving Pre-primary and General Secondary Education Project (P144856) Additionally, the World Bank task team advised the Ministry of Public Education to expedite the implementation of the following project activities, which are currently delayed: (i) training of general secondary education teachers in content areas developed with project funds; (ii) improvement of management information systems; and (iii) assessment of the half-day model of Early Childhood Care and Education, and early reading program. Given the approaching project closing date, the World Bank task team will start providing the Ministry of Public Education with additional technical and fiduciary support to address the mentioned implementation challenges.
