Civil works contractor has started excavation of power house area and dismantling of outlet concrete structures. E&M work also is expected to commence soon. • First meeting of the Independent panel of experts (IPOE) was held in January 2014. Panel will be meeting periodically and on the need basis to ensure that quality and Public Disclosure Copy standards are being met and to advise on any other issues during project implementation. • Nine schemes including dispensaries, drinking water, sewage, rehabilitation of drainage systems and upgradation/construction of schools and hospital were identified under the Social Action Plan. Construction work has started on several of these schemes and various items are being procured. • The Social Action Plan to address the outstanding resettlement court cases of Tarbela and Ghazi Barotha projects has completed the first round and eligible claimants who approached the Resettlement Claims Commission (RCC) are being paid after withdrawal of their cases from the courts. As of March 31, 2014, PKR 29.8 million out of Rs. 29.9 million has been paid. RCC can be re-instated if more claimants approach WAPDA to avail out-of-court settlement option.
