The project proceed disbursement remains at about 99.5% as at June 2014. The CSDP is active in each of the 26 participating states and FCT. The state level reports of the project output indicated that 449 LGRCs are currently functional across the states, 348 LGAs are incorporating Community Development Plans CDPs into their local government development plans LGDPs, and 98 of the LGAs are already replicating community driven development, CDD approach. As at end of June 2014, a total of 6,106 micro-projects have been completed with 1,081 on-going and 646 yet to be commenced Page 1 of 9 The World Bank Report No: ISR16083 across the states. The distribution of the micro-projects cuts across eight sectors, including: education; environment; gender and vulnerable; health; rural electrification; socio- economic; transport; and water, which tops the list of the micro-projects with a total of 1,764 water-related micro-projects already completed. In terms of impact the number of poor communities benefiting from CSDP assistance has increased to over 3,000 communities of more than 1.6 million households with an estimated Public Disclosure Copy population size of about 5 (five) million people. The operations remain relatively cost efficient and effective than similar operations, mainly because of community implementation approach. The contribution to outcomes in the sectors of interventions continues to increase especially in terms of increase in primary and secondary school enrolment in the project communities, increase in number of additional children that are no taking science classes in participating communities. There are some anecdotal evidence of increase in pass rate of students in common external examinations at primary and secondary education levels in participating states. This is especially encouraging for the girl child education. In the water sector, there is constant reduction in distance to water source and increase in the number of people fetching water. There is increased number of children immunized per cycle in CSDP communities. The objective of ensuring that poor community members enjoy improved human capital development services is clearly in focus At the Federal level, the FPSU need to focus on delivery of the action plan agreed for the extension period of the original credit CSDP for the year 2014. As at June 30 2014, the preparation of the additional financing for the CSDP has been completed, but credit not yet signed or effective. Also FPSU restructuring, completion, review and dissemination of CDD policy notes, and CSDP impact evaluation study are activities yet to be completed by the Federal Team. Joint supervision and review of implementation performance of State Agencies by World Bank and Federal Team is also yet to be undertaken. The number of active LGAs continue to increase and the number of LGAs that are replicating the CDD approach is now close to 100. It is important to continue to encourage LGAs participation with a view to ensure sustainability of the CDD approach. State Governments budget provision for funding of the State Agencies is also improving. However the provision of government funds to the State Agencies need to be sustained and increased to accelerate completion of ongoing micro projects and achievement of more results of the CDD approach. The Federal Government is continue the coordinated support to the State Agencies and the FPSU to improve implementation performance and also the effectiveness of the approved additional financing for the Project.
