The progress towards achievement of project development objectives is satisfactory. All key performance indicators (KPIs) have been either achieved or on-track to achieve the end-of-project targets. The implementation progress also continues to be satisfactory. The project has made the following progress: (i) 439 academic innovation fund (AIF) sub-projects awarded of which 333 (76%) completed; (ii) eight Fabrication Labs subprojects and another 86 subprojects awarded supplemental grants under round 4; (iii) over 8,000 faculty and university support staff received training; (iv) Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) connectivity has increased 9/10/2018 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Bangladesh - Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (P106216) to 40 universities; (v) UGC Digital Library (UDL) membership increased to 90 universities and institutions; (vi) 69 universities established Internal Quality Assurance Cells (IQACs) and a total of 800 self-assessments (SAs) conducted (86% of all SAs planned); and (vii) fiduciary oversight capacity continues to strengthen. Following agreed actions need to be completed by project closing: (i) establishment of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council; (ii) completion of remaining AIF activities; (iii) processing of the remaining BdREN procurement packages; and (iv) awareness and publications on project achievements.
