Towards this, the project has verified and conducted sensitization activities in 254 villages. Through a process of self-section, villages have come forward to participate in the project through signing a Green Charter. To undertake the conservation of natural resources, Village Natural Resource Management 10/11/2019 Page 1 of 5 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Meghalaya Community-led Landscapes Management Project (P157836) Committees have been constituted in 78 villages of the state, and through various PRA and visioning exercises plans for natural resource management (Community Natural Resource Management plans) have been prepared. These villages have received INR 30,000 for plan preparation and an initial sum of INR 3 lakh for implementation of identified natural resource management interventions. The project has initiated trainings on implementing community-led development processes and key areas of Natural Resource Management such as Spring shed development. Further, to take forward the dissemination of trainings and knowledge and capacity building support through the project, a Training Needs Assessment as well as processes to ensure that trainings can achieve scale and accessibility are being put in place. The project is undertaking a series of community dialogues to identify grassroots innovations and has received 70 nominations under the innovative guidelines for consideration as grassroots innovations; Also, the project, through its innovation fund is contributing to the conservation of living-root bridges, a globally unique physical cultural resource in the State. The SPMU and DPMU teams have been strengthened with roles being clearly defined for both management and technical support to the project. With progress made on strengthening teams and capacities and preparation of concrete plans for technical support and implementation there will likely be substantial improvement by the end of the fiscal year in the project on physical and financial targets.
