Wildlife restocking of Sidinda ward: wildlife based income streams in ward 13 of Hwange District Comments: Land reclamation in Chireya micro Catchment : Community gardens, bee keeping and brick making livelihood interventions REDD+ : Communities benefiting from bee keeping and related value chains in 10 wards of Lupane, Hwange and Tsholotsho districts IN00709948 Female beneficiaries (Percentage, Custom Supplement) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 67.00 67.00 50.00 Improved land use and resource management capacity in protected areas and forest reserves IN00709944 ►Improved management of Hwange National Park (Number, Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 51.00 63.00 63.00 68.00 Date 15-Jan-2014 29-Jun-2018 31-May-2019 31-Dec-2019 Achievement of this indicator is on track. The METT processes for HNP to assess end of project score will be conducted in December 2019. The METT score is expected to improve from the mid-term review score Comments: of 63 given the continued improvements being made by the project towards effective and efficient HNP protection and management and community engagement. The preliminary data emerging strongly indicates no change in overall carbon sequestration in the forest reserves and unless there is some major Comments: and unexpected loss of habitat in the next two years, the percentage loss of sequestered carbon will likely be 0% or close to it. The remedial works are still being implemented and will be supplemented by other measures to implement better land use management in Comments: the watershed; together these are expected to allow the full target to be achieved by the end or the project. Overall Comments PDO Sustainable land management practices including construction of conservation works in the wider catchment, removal of community gardens within stream banks and establishment of consolidated gardens will provide the basis of calculating area under SLM. The project aims to reach the end of project target under the accelerated implementation plan as village heads are replicating conservation initiatives following the capacity building conducted. No new data was collected for this indicator during the period under review. The area brought under forest management plans is based on the total area for the two gazetted forests (Ngamo and Sikumi) The METT Comments: scores for the two gazetted forests Ngamo & Sikumi are expected to improve from the mid-term score of 66 for Sikumi and 67 for Ngamo given the investments towards effective fire and game water management, anti-poaching, community livelihoods initiatives and piloting of REDD+. Overall, the two gazetted forests have already been brought under improved management with clear management plans.
