During this supervision visit, the World Bank’s task team assessed the progress towards the achievement of the Project Development Objectives (PDO), as well as the progress with the implementation of each component. The results show that the Ministry of Public Education is on track to achieve the PDO within schedule, but also that there are some implementation shortcomings to be addressed in the short-term to enable the completion of all relevant activities before the project closing date. During the mentioned supervision visit, the Ministry of Public Education was advised to expedite the implementation of the following project activities, which are currently delayed: (i) training of general secondary education teachers in content areas developed with project funds; (ii) improvement of management information systems; and (iii) assessment of the half-day model of Early Childhood Care and Education, and early reading program.
