The Project is making overall good progress towards its implementation targets and is being implemented satisfactorily. In September 2018 an Additional Financing (AF) became effective and the project is making steady progress towards new targets set forward by the AF. Some of the key results of the project are: a) To date, the project has supported 5,084 farmers to adopt new technologies to make their farms more climate smart, including irrigation systems, improved effluent management, improved use of water and shade for cattle, among others. These farmers include 1,117 female farmers and 3,967 male farmers. b) The project has trained over 6,700 people in the projects objectives, including nearly 5,000 men and 1,700 women. c) The project has introduced new and/or improved sustainable landscape management practices onto nearly 2.4M ha of land in Uruguay, or 13 percent of the total land area of Uruguay. d) The Climate Information Decision Support System or SNIA for its Spanish acronym is functioning and helping to support decisions in the public sector. It has also seen a total of 40,000 uses today, with steadily increasing usage. e) The call for milk producers in the Cuenca Santa Lucia has been impacted by the crisis in the milk sector (low international price of milk), but continues to make steady progress with additional projects approved and some completing implementation. f) The call for milk producers in the Laguna del Sauce watershed closed in March, 2018 and the implementation of sub-projects with producer groups will begin in November, 2018. These projects will focus on supporting investments to improve the environmentally sustainable production of milk to protect water quality in the Laguna del Sauce. g) The Ministry of Agriculture has undertaken an impact evaluation of several project interventions and has determined that sub-projects under the calls a) family cattle ranchers b) milk producers and c) water for animal production (APA) have all had a statistically significant impact on the farmers in terms of liters of milk produced (APA and milk farmers) or kgs of beef (family cattle ranchers). MGAP will use this information to scale-up impactful interventions. The Project continues to be in compliance with its fiduciary and safeguards obligations and the Financial Management performance is Satisfactory. The next implementation support mission will take place in April, 2019. Technical assistance will introduce good agricultural practices adjusted to each situation. These are, among other, the use of organic fertilizer, certified seeds, diversification and shifting Comments: cultivation and will be identified during project implementation. The indicator evaluates if at least one good agricultural practice transferred during technical assistance is being adopted by the farmer. Municipal staff using their site visits will evaluate use of agricultural practices or improved agricultural technology. One year after the completion of the first systems, an independent evaluation will confirm monitoring results of the municipal staff. If needed, an additional independent evaluation will be realized during mid-term IN00599054 review. Farmers adopting improved agricultural technology - Female (Number, Corporate Supplement) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 1,094.00 1,117.00 1,400.00 IN00599055 Farmers adopting improved agricultural technology - male (Number, Corporate Supplement) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 3,831.00 3,967.00 5,600.00 IN00599043 ►Number of people trained in project objectives (Number, Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 6,584.00 6,738.00 8,000.00 Date 17-Oct-2011 20-Apr-2018 15-Oct-2018 16-Nov-2021 IN00599052 Number of people trained in project objectives - Female (Number, Custom Breakdown) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 1,690.00 1,752.00 2,000.00 Date 17-Oct-2011 20-Apr-2018 15-Oct-2018 16-Nov-2021 IN00599053 Number of people trained in project objectives - Male (Number, Custom Breakdown) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target 12/7/2018 Page 3 of 8 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Sustainable Management of Natural Resources and Climate Change (P124181) Value 0.00 4,894.00 4,986.00 6,000.00 Date 17-Oct-2011 20-Apr-2018 15-Oct-2018 16-Nov-2021 IN00599050 ►Data products generated by the interoperability of IDSS/SNIA and made available to users (Number, Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 24.00 25.00 30.00 Date 17-Oct-2011 20-Apr-2018 15-Oct-2018 16-Nov-2021 Promote improved natural resource management practices in project areas IN00598982 ►Climate Change Adaptive Capacity Index (%) (Number, Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 0.31 0.34 0.30 Date 17-Oct-2011 20-Apr-2018 15-Oct-2018 16-Nov-2021 IN00599044 ►Land area under sustainable landscape management practices (Hectare(Ha), Corporate) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 2,462,634.00 2,358,000.00 3,600,000.00 Date 17-Oct-2011 20-Apr-2018 15-Oct-2018 16-Nov-2021 The indicator measures, in hectares, the land area for which new and/or improved sustainable landscape management practices have been introduced. As of this ISR, the target for this indicator has been achieved. At the time of the preparation of the AF, it was expected based on previous decision- Comments: making, that the major decisions would be roughly one per year, hence the target of 8. Achievement of this target within the first year of the AF has meant that data from SNIA has been more mainstreamed in the public sector than what was projected.
