The demobilization component of the project is progressing well and all the demand for demobilization has been met. From January 1, 2009 to November 30, 2013, a total of 8,005 ex-combatants have been demobilized, including 4,000 from RDF and 4,005 from Armed Groups. Public Disclosure Copy Reintegration. Economic and social reintegration activities are progressing well. From January 1, 2009 to November 30, 2013, a total of 7,965 reintegration grants have been provided to ex-combatants, including to 125 ex-combatants demobilized under the previous project. Support to vulnerable groups. The project continues to provide quality and tailored support to children formerly associated with fighting forces and female and disabled ex- combatants. From January 1, 2009 to November 30, 2013, a total of 240 children have been admitted at the children rehabilitation Center, including 30 children who are receiving support at the Children Rehabilitation center as of November 30, 2013.The project continues to provide support to a total of 2,878 disabled and chronically-ill ex-combatants. The project continues to provide Vulnerability Support Window (VSW) grants (in the form of access to training) to vulnerable ex-combatants. From January 2009 to November 30, 2013 a total of 4,491 ex-combatants selected in Vulnerability screening received training, IGA, or formal education support, and an additional 41 were in the process of receiving support. Mainstreaming. Mainstreaming activities are progressing well. The mission was pleased to note that the project is moving forward with the provision of technical support and capacity building to MINISANTE and the National Council for People with Disabilities on disability categorization. It was agreed that mental health support would be strengthened and that the project would provide screening, treatment or referral to adult and children ex- combatants at Mutobo demobilization center and Muhoza children rehabilitation center.An additional full time psychologist will be hired. Support to vulnerable groups. The project will designate one person in the Kigali office to coordinate and organize follow up visits to children who have left the Muhoza rehabilitation center to live with their families or reintegrate on their own once they reach 18 years old.
