The three technical assistance assignments, financed by the GEF Grant, are concluded. The three assignments are (1) Integration of Wind Farms in the National Electric System of Jordan; (2) Strengthening the Legal, Regulatory and Institutional Frameworks for the Development of Renewable Energy Resources; and (3) Estimating Indicative Prices for Various Renewable Energy Products. As a result of the analytical work under these TAs, the pricing, net metering and connection regulations necessary for development of Jordan's renewable energy development strategy have been finalized and posted on the Electricity Regulatory Commission's website. Page 1 of 5 The World Bank Report No: ISR15351 2. The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Law was enacted on April 16, 2012. This law paved the way for the establishment of the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund ( Jordan REEF), which is a major component supported by the GEF Grant. Public Disclosure Copy 3. The bid evaluation for the Fujeij Wind IPP Project was concluded in December 2012. A preferred bidder was identified; however the signing of the project agreements has been delayed until now pending final closure. 4. In parallel, the Government had awarded the contract for the development of the Tafila Wind IPP Project. This project concluded financing phase in November 2013, to be followed by construction phase. However, as per recent public statements made by the financiers, Tafila Wind IPP Project would be commissioned in September 2015. 5. The project Closing Date was extended until June 30, 2015 in order to provide additional time for the performance subsidy component of the GEF Grant to be disbursed after commercial operation of eligible renewable energy projects.
