This will contribute to achievement of the water and sanitation MDGs. The project will achieve the objective through: (a) facilitatingaccess to services through programs for constructing social water service connections, public standpipes, and on-site sanitation facilities; and (b) consolidating the achievements of the urban water supply sub-sector reforms and strengthening capacities to deliver and manage services. The project will help to provide clean water to 527,000 additional people and to provide improved sanitation services to 246,000 additional people." As of April 30, 2014, 378,000 additional people representing 72% of the end-of-project-target (EOPT) have gained access to piped Page 1 of 3 The World Bank Report No: ISR14729 water and 345,500 additional people (98% of the EOPT) have gained access to improved sanitation services thanks to the project. With regards to the urban water sector reform supported by the project, the financial equilibrium of the sector is maintained with a net positive cash balance of US$6 million in Dec. 2013. The staff productivity of ONEA: 3.4 staff per 1000 connections, has exceeded the EOPT and the bill collection ratio of the water consumers: 96.5% has quite achieved the final target of 97%.
