Service delivery centered on farmers will promote in practice increased participation of beneficiaries both in defining the type of services required and in the delivery itself. The project would also promote improved ratio of overall costs reaching beneficiaries as direct investments. The aim is thus to promote sustainability, effectiveness and efficiency. On the horticulture side, key horticultural Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Report No: ISR9900 investment activities have already surpassed their targets for the whole year and are on track for a similar performance during the second semester of 2013. On the livestock side, progress is also good. Regarding Animal Health activities, the vaccination campaign against brucellosis started in early April. On the production side, 54 VFUs have been contracted for the livestock extension program. Progress is also satisfactory regarding implementation arrangements for the geographical expansion of the project, as all the Regional Coordination Units have already been established, well in advance of the proposed schedule.
