The 2015 work plan is well aligned with the S&OP, and implementation progress is satisfactory. Several country fora (CF) were launched and several stakeholder consultation workshops were held since November, 2014 - these developments occured with very little financial and technical assistance from AFAAS, demonstrating that demand exists for such civil organization not only by AES providers and farmers, but also by African governments. In terms of linkages and partnerships, AFAAS has continued to build and improve its linkages with other international, regional and national institutions guided by its Partnership Strategy (PS). The linkages that AFAAS has developed over the years with the Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services (GFRAS) are expanding and creating opportunities for AFAAS to link with other partners that show keen interest to support its activities. The recent signing of a MoU with the AUC (April, 2015) is an important chapter that puts AFAAS on the map of Africa side by side with other African development institutions. Collaboration with FARA has continued in important areas such as gender mainstreaming, monitoring and evaluation, and training on IAR4D in spite of delays in concluding a new MOU. Collaboration with the SRO has also continued and is positive. With the Grant Award Guidelines approved, the AFAAS MDTF now enters a new stage where it can directly support countries in undertaking innovative activities in support of improved agricultural advisory services. This will require major attention from several sides within AFAAS: compliance with procurement sub-grant guidelines; attention to visibility; and monitoring of sub-grant implementation.
