Has the Project Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project Objective? Uzbekistan has disbursed about 96% of its funds for credit line, Tajikistan has also disbursed about 60% of the credit line. The projects financed through the facility are of different nature in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In Tajikistan the credit line is used to support a large number of small undertakings/ family-run farms. In Uzbekistan, the credit was disbursed towards a small number of large-scale projects benefitting fewer individuals and on smaller surface. On a macro-level, 77% of the credit 6/21/2019 Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin CAMP4ASB (P151363) line is financing greenhouses or processing/storage of agriculture products which ultimately would provide a steady supply of fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the year with positive repercussions on local employment and improvement of livelihoods. While the implementation of the Regional Knowledge Services component is still lagging behind the original schedule, the positive developments in CAREC could make it possible for the project to catch up within next 6-12 months. The 2019 Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC) took place in Tashkent on April 3-4, convening about 400 participants from the region and beyond for extensive discussions on Climate Resilience. By now CAMP4ASB is clearly recognized as a platform that brings together all the countries of the region for knowledge, data and information exchange, as well as for join climate action, particularly focused on building resilience of the countries for sustained and equitable growth. Over the remaining two year period the project would need to capitalize on achievements so far and enhance regional cooperation through a number of tools envisaged for deployment in the next 12 months. The Grant has not been operationalized yet though, due to Comments: on-going negotiations between the Bank and GCF on Implementing Agency Agreement and related legal provisions. Over the reporting period, on the basis of the CAMP4ASB additional resources have been 6/21/2019 Page 2 of 6 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin CAMP4ASB (P151363) mobilized in support of resilient landscapes of Central Asia. Thus, as direct beneficiaries for this project would be considered: 1. people receiving regional and nation training; 2. beneficiaries of credit lines (and their families); 3. People benefitting from jobs created by the project. Based on this definition, actual and Comments: planned beneficiaries of training and subprojects (assuming that each subproject benefits a family of 10 people and people employed by the subproject), the expected number of direct beneficiaries is estimated to be around 50,000, and the target would be revised downward. The project has financed a lot of subprojects that resulted in adoption of new technologies for climate smart agriculture and not in number of ha covered by Comments: sustainable land and water management technologies. Thus, the target of number of hectares will be adjusted to 10,000 ha and a new intermediate results indicator related to climate smart technology adoption will be added.
