All contractors for the construction of the new Bac Son - Nam Hai urban arterial road have now mobilized. The implementation has experienced delays as challenges with site handover as a result of inadequate counterpart funding. The pilot corridor improvements under the Public Transport Component and procurement of the new buses have been completed, and intelligent transport systems has been under implementation to align with the completion of the upgraded pedestrian and bus shelter infrastructure. Together with the envisaged development of a Public Transport Authority, institutional improvements for public transport service delivery are expected to facilitate a greater focus on increasing public transit ridership. The project's original development objectives remain relevant and achievable. Further, the investments remain consistent with both country and city development priorities for improving urban accessibility and strengthening planning and management capacity for transport infrastructure and delivery of public services. The city management has committed to accelerate the implementation progress through allocation of adequate counterpart fund and appointment of a Vice Chairman for closely and directly overseeing
