Most activities under Component A have been completed. The Baku strategic investment plan has been drafted and is currently being Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Report No: ISR14343 reviewed by the Government. Civil works at Balakhani landfill under Component B financed under the Additional Financing (AF) are expected to commence by the end of 2014. The competitive tender for the works is expected to be launched in May 2014. The contracts for the rehabilitation of Garadagh and Surakhani sites under Component C are also progressing well. Trucks and containers procured under Component D have arrived in Baku. They have been deployed to several outer districts and have improved the performance of the waste collection system there. Public Disclosure Copy The Additional Financing (USD 47.1 million) became effective on March 21, 2014. It will finance the rehabilitation of Bakkhani landfill, the preparation of national waste strategy and legal framework, and priority feasibility studies. The draft terms of reference for the legal framework and for the national waste strategy and feasibility studies are in advanced stage of preparation. Disbursements stand at USD 27 million, equivalent of 35 percent of the total project amount of USD 76.6 million.
