Conditions of effectiveness have been met: A Project Coordinator has been selected, the Project Unit has been established and the project team, including the 3 regional project coordinators, has been hired and operating; the Operational Manual has been approved by the World Bank. The project became effective on February 28, 2013 and it was launched on May 20, 2013 with series of events held in Mexico City (May 20), Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas (May 21), Chetumal, Quintana Roo (May 22) and Oaxaca, Oaxaca (May 24). The post-launch mission was held in San Cristobal de las Casas (Nov 23 to 26), with an Page 1 of 4 The World Bank Report No: ISR13049 opening in Mexico City on Nov 21, focusing on project implementation activities and a field visit in Chiapas. The call for proposals was launched and from the initial expression of interests, a total of 27 sub-projects have been selected, distributed as follows: 2 (cacao), 6 (cafe), 4 (ecotourism), 8 (forestry - timber and non-timber), 5 (honey), 1 (silvopastoral) and 1 (wildlife), across the 6 states of the country - Chiapas & Tabasco (8), Oaxaca (11), Peninsula (Campeche, Quintana Roo, Yucatan) (8). The project team is well established, with the central team (in Mexico City) coordinating the project and the 3 regional coordinators managing project activities on the ground in the regions.
