Faced with issues related with the withdrawal of Social Mobilization Partner and a volatile security situation in South Waziristan, the Project re-aligned its approach by concentrating on 3 model villages-one each in Bajaur, Mohmand and South Waziristan Agency. Interventions on social mobilization, ‘quick win’ schemes, social infrastructure and livelihoods have culminated in on-ground results in three model villages thus creating wider social acceptance for Page 1 of 5 The World Bank Report No: ISR12436 the Project. The Project is now expanding its implementation beyond model villages. To date, the following achievements have been reported: • 134 Community Organizations (COs) have been formed • Training is currently underway for 44 COs Public Disclosure Copy • Infrastructure Schemes designed and ready for implementation as follows: i. Bajaur Agency: 6 infrastructure schemes in Model Village and 9 schemes in other villages ii. Mohmand Agency: 6 infrastructure schemes in the Model Village and 6 in other villages; iii. South Waziristan Agency: 10 infrastructure schemes in the Model Village and 10 in other villages; • Under ‘quick win’ schemes, the Project has distributed seeds and fertilizers to XX farmers, 600 solar lamps, trained 60 people in repair of Solar Lamps, distributed sewing machines to 304 households and provided fuel efficient stoves to 25 households, • Under livelihoods, 304households have been provided poultry packages • 13,000 saplings have been planted in Bajaur Agency for soil stabilization and flood control The IP rating is maintained at Moderately Satisfactory with this understanding that as the project implementation rate improves, this can be reviewed. A Withdrawal Application for US$ 1.4 million was submitted recently and is currently (21st November 2013) at stage two of approval process. However, overall disbursement continues to lag. As the Project is now making progress, it is expected that disbursement will increase over the subsequent quarters. The Bank team is continuing close supervision of the project through regular review meetings in Peshawar and Islamabad. Over the past 6 months this level of follow up has contributed to the above listed activities and completion of agreed actions. Restructuring History There has been no restructuring to date.
