Has the Project Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project? Yes No Component(s) Component Name Component Cost Component 1. The execution of Component 1 continues to progress very rapidly, and is currently in its final stages. Component 2 continues to advance at a slower pace, with only 4 subprojects currently underway in the south Atlantic Autonomous Region (RAAS), 16 completed sub-projects, and 16 projects in the pre-investment stage in RAAS and Alto-Wanky (8 in each region). Under Component 3, the sanitation marketing pilot project is in full implementation, and is already presenting concrete and positive results. The Corn Island pilot project has Public Disclosure Copy progressed since the last ISR sequence, with most procurement processes launched, but its implementation continues to be behind schedule. The capacity strengthening plan for the island’s WSS utility (EMACI) is progressing well, with most activities already carried out or underway (including several goods purchases). However, the planned water and sanitation works have not yet begun, due mainly to procurement difficulties that FISE and the Bank are working hard to overcome. Component 4 continues to advance well, including through the impressive roll-out of the SIASAR information system – with almost 4,000 communities registered in the system so far, and all of the country’s communities expected to be registered in the system with full information by January 2013 . The roll out of the second phase of municipal capacity building activities (AVAR II) has also begun under Component 4. The preparation of a new rural WSS operation for the sector (named Nicaragua Sustainable Rural WSS Sector Project, P147006) has been an opportunity to deepen sectorial discussions with the Client, as the new operation will include measures to further organize and strengthen the sector’s institutions at national, municipal and community levels, together with support to sustainable access to WSS services. The Additional Financing of US$6 M (IDA Grant) was signed on March 1 and became effective on May 13 2013. A Type II restructuring for the PRASNICA parent project and the Additional Financing grant was approved on June 6 2013, including an extension of closing date for both operations from March 31, 2014 to June 30, 2014. To date, the Project has disbursed US$16M of the PRASNICA grant (86.45%), US$300,000 of the credit (99%), and US$730,664 of the Additional Financing grant (11.94%). The results presented in this ISR refer to both parent PRASNICA and its Additional Financing.
