The restructuring includes revisions to the PDO, results framework, and original project components; reallocation of loan proceeds; and extension of the closing date from March 31, 2017 to January 31, 2019 to allow for completion of project activities and achievement of the revised PDO. Page 1 of 8 The World Bank Report No: ISR16189 The progress towards achievement of the project development objective remains moderately satisfactory, the overall implementation progress is now rated moderately satisfactory considering the positive progress made in the implementation of the track renewal contract.. Despite delays, the implementation of Component 1 (Modernization of signaling systems on Cairo-Alexandria and Beni Suef-Asyut lines) is moving forward. The contract for the Cairo-Alexandria line was awarded to the firm Thales, which started the works. Public Disclosure Copy Implementation of Component 2 (Track renewal works along the Cairo-Aswan line) had faced significant difficulties. The recently signed amendment to the contract has allowed to solve these difficulties. Although ENR's operational performance remains a source of concern, ENR continues to make some progress in the implementation of Component 3 (Modernization of management and operating practices).
