Macro Poverty Outlook for Sierre Leone : April 2022 (English)

After contracting in 2020, Sierra Leone’s economy grew by 3.1 percent in 2021, driven mainly by agriculture and mining. The fiscal deficit remained elevated, despite improvements in revenues, driven by overruns in recurrent spending. With growth averaging 4.4 percent during the medium-term, poverty is expected to return to its 2019 level by 2023, but high inflation is eroding real incomes and may affect the outlook.
