Although slowly declining, Nicaragua has consistently higher fertility rates than regional and structural peers. Women in Nicaragua are 14 percentage points more likely than men to have vulnerable jobs. Only 36 percent of firms have female participation in ownership. Women are 9 percentage points less likely than men to have access to a financial account. There are no provisions in the law regarding parental leave.
