Outlines Tanzania's socialist development policies and objectives; presents a summary review of selected sectors of the economy and of progress made in the first two years of the Second Plan (1969-74) and with achieving the government's declared socio-economic goals; attempts to sketch the country's economic prospects for the rest of the Plan period and up to the end of the decade. Detailed sectoral studies are presented in vols. 2-4 of the report.
