Toward a unified investment promotion law : further enhancing the investment climate for growth (English)

The first foreign investment law in Lao PDR was promulgated in 1989 following the government's adoption of the New Economic Mechanism reforms in the mid 1980s. In 1994, the law was amended to include provisions to allow for 100 percent foreign-owned businesses and to broaden the range of sectors open to foreign investment.
