The 2001 and 2011 censuses results were published in the form of a large number of MS-Excel files in India. These tables are available in the Census Digital Library. To be made accessible via API, the data they contain required a tedious process. For each table, the corresponding Excel files had to be merged and their content converted to a database (long) format and saved as a CSV file. This CSV file could then be uploaded into a mongoDB database...
