School participation, grade attainment and literacy in Brazil : a 1980 census analysis (anglais)

This study uses data from the 1980 Brazilian Census to analyze the determinants of school participation, grade attainment and literacy among 24,000 children aged 7-14. Regional and household resources are the two dominant factors related to family decisions as to whether a child will enroll in school, the grade the child will attain, whether the child will work or drop out of school, and whether the child will be literate by age 14.
