Ghazala Mansuri

Senior Economist

GHAZALA MANSURI, is a Research Economist in the Development Economics Research Group of the World Bank. She has a joint appointment in the rural development and poverty groups. Her recent work has focused on rural financial markets and micro-finance. She is currently coordinating the research initiative on community driven development. Her own research in this area looks at the relationship between community organizations and local government, and community characteristics and the maintenance of community assets. Her other on-going work includes the measurement of vulnerability among rural households, and the relationship between inequality, land tenure and investment in soil quality. She completed her Ph.D. in economics from Boston University in 1998. Prior to coming to the Bank in 1998, she taught at the Master's level at UCLA and Boston University.
